I do not hesitate to point out the inanity of the assumptions people make about me, simply because I am female. An example? The one most likely to make me blow a gasket is most commonly spewed forth by other women, as when we have a conversation about someone's children, the other woman turns to me with smug look on her face and says "well Michelle, you have all this to look forward to". I generally reply in a calm voice that, unless said person possesses amazing psychic abilities, they could not possibly know that I am going to have children as I have not yet made that decision. This normally turns out to be a bit of a conversation-stopper and my inquiry as to whether their assumption was based on my gender normally goes unanswered. Whilst I have never heard 'Heartless' mentioned, Bitch has come up a couple of times.
My general philosophy in life is that I do what I wish and don't worry about what people think. Nor do I participate in anything simply because it is expected of me. Of course, this philosophy means that all the dorky men at work think that I am a lesbian because:
